In this tutorial, I will show how you can weave this purse / clutch using the quad stitch (also called biscuit knot).
This project is very simple and quick. It can be done in a couple of days.
You will have to know how to weave the biscuit knot. Here is the tutorial for that knot.
Cut red and white wires. The number of wire pieces depend on the desired length of the purse.
Each wire is 2 meters long. Each knot will require 4 wires (half of them will be red and the other half will be white). My purse has 9 knots so it required a total of 36 wires (18 white and 18 red)
Start by making two knots. Now we have to join them. Place them near each other like shown below.
Do you see how wires are naturally intersecting each other above and below the two knots? We will join the first two knots by making two more knots with wires that are intersecting each other.
Now we have a pure red knot above and a pure white knot below.
Keep adding more knots to this middle line and make knots with wires that intersect each other. The square will slowly begin to grow.
This middle line will form the base of the purse
Keep adding more knots to this line till you reach the desired length of the purse.
Additional knots can be added to the right or to the left. I like to weave it all the way to the top.
Once the desired length of the purse is reached, we have to turn the corner. To do so, we have to force two sets of wires that are not intersecting each other and form knots.
Yellow arrows point to the spots where we will make those two knots.
You will see two triangle shaped holes after turning the corner.
Turn the corner at the other end too. There should be a total of 4 triangles in each purse.
Once the corner has been turned, continue weaving and making knots as usual.
Basket is growing.
Once the desired height is reached, tuck in the excess wires.
Biscuit knot clutch is ready. Line it with matching fabric and add a zip.
