Granny stripes is a simple but colorful pattern where yarn color is changed after every two rows. This pattern is ideal for projects when the yarn hoarder in you temporarily becomes insane and wants to destash.
So this is how a block made with granny stripes looks like. But in this tutorial, we are going to vary the pattern slightly.
The picture on the left shows the classic granny stripes and the picture on the right shows the variation. The image on the right has 3 row repeats.
Here is the chart for granny square stripes. You have to know how to crochet chains and double crochet stitch for this.
Start with a row of chains (multiples of 4 +1) . Add 3 chains and this will be counted as the first double crochet in the next row. Add 2 more double crochets in the 4th chain.
We will be adding sets of 3 double crochet stitches. Chain 1, skip 3 chains and add the next step.
When you reach the end of the row, chain 3 to start the next row and turn your work.
Chain 1 and add the next set of 3 crochet stitches in the next space.
End row with a single double crochet stitch.
Change color.
